Houston Public Works Shares Labor Day Solid Waste Service Schedule

 

HOUSTON, Aug. 31, 2026 — In observance of Labor Day, Houston Public Works’ Solid Waste Management Division will adjust curbside collection services and close all Solid Waste Management facilities and administrative offices on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.

Please review the modified schedule below and set carts out on the adjusted collection day.

Holiday Collection Schedule: Labor Day

Monday, Sept. 7 (Labor Day)

• No curbside collection.
• All Solid Waste Management facilities and administrative offices will be closed.

Tuesday, Sept. 8

• Monday’s garbage and recycling will be collected.
• All Solid Waste Management facilities and administrative offices will reopen.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

• Tuesday’s garbage and recycling will be collected.

Thursday, Sept. 10

• Normal collection schedules resume.
