DR24 Single-Family Home Repair Program Details | Now Available
August 12, 2026 -- Houston, Texas -- The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) has released official program details for the DR24 Single-Family Home Repair Program, which provides approximately $50 million in assistance to help Houston homeowners repair or reconstruct homes damaged by the May 2024 Derecho or Hurricane Beryl.
Who May Be Eligible?
The DR24 Single-Family Home Repair Program is available to income-eligible homeowners whose primary residence:
- Is located within the Houston city limits;
- Was damaged by the May 2024 Derecho, Hurricane Beryl or both disasters;
- Is located outside of the floodway; and
- Is owned and occupied by a household earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
This program represents an important step in Houston’s long-term recovery,” said HCD Director Michael Nichols. “We are committed to helping eligible homeowners repair and rebuild safer, more resilient homes while ensuring residents have the information and support needed to navigate the application process.”

Applications are not yet available. Beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, residents may call to request an application packet.
Meet Us at the Houston Disaster & Recovery Expo
(HCD) and its community partners will host the Houston Disaster and Recovery Expo on Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center.
Attendees will have the first opportunity to receive a physical DR24 application, and speak directly with onsite intake specialists about eligibility, required documentation and the application process.
The free community event will also connect residents with emergency-preparedness information and partner resources supporting long-term resilience.
The City extends its appreciation to all the Expo sponsors: Kroger, Frost Bank, H-E-B, CenterPoint Energy, HomeGenie and Innovate 4R Balloons, as well as the many participating organizations helping Houston residents prepare, recover and rebuild.
