Houston Fire Marshal Office - Food Trucks

Food Trucks operating in the City of Houston. If you are inquiring about, applying for the first time, or renewing your Food Truck Fire Marshal’s Permit, these documents explain the requirements for all Food Trucks operating in the City of Houston (COH) whether on a regular basis or for an Event (Temporary).

If you use LP-Gas, you need a Fire Marshal’s Permit to operate, whether you use it for cooking or to power other equipment. If you operate regularly at an address within city limits, you can apply for an Annual Permit (L1 LP-Gas for use on Food Trucks, FMA). If you do not regularly operate in the City of Houston but will attend an event within the city limits, you can apply for a Temporary Permit (L3 LP-Gas for use on Food Trucks – Temporary, FTP).
